As we roll out our latest update to the RotoProspects Top 700 Prospect fantasy baseball rankings, let’s dive into the key updates surrounding the top-ranked prospects this week.
Braden Montgomery jumps up near the Top 25 with his White Sox debut
Talk about an entrance. Promoted straight to the big leagues this week, Montgomery (pictured above) single-handedly stole the baseball spotlight on Tuesday night. Facing a 10th-inning deficit against the Braves, he hammered an opposite-field, walk-off, two-run blast off Raisel Iglesias to secure a 6-5 White Sox victory. He followed that up on Wednesday with a multi-double performance. Montgomery has elite 60-grade power, and showing he can turn around high-leverage big-league relief pitching immediately validates his steep climb into our elite Tier 2 prospects.
Rockies’ Cole Carrigg soars into the Top 100 after his own MLB debut
Carrigg was selected by the Rockies on June 9th and wasted zero time, slapping a fifth-inning triple for his first major-league hit against the Cubs. The 24-year-old earned this promotion after a spectacular May in the Pacific Coast League, where he hit .338/.414/.529 with 30 stolen bases on the season. While his aggressive, swing-happy tendencies in Double-A last year raised flags, his low 15.2% strikeout rate at Triple-A this spring proved he has reined in his approach. His sheer positional versatility and impact speed mean he must be rostered everywhere.
Miguel Sime Jr. of Nationals moves up into the Top 125
The 19-year-old phenom continues to see his stock skyrocket. After dominating Single-A—including a dazzling seven-strikeout, three hitless-innings relief appearance in late May—Sime was promoted to High-A Wilmington on Monday. He features an absolute lightning bolt of a fastball that effortlessly sits at 100 mph. What makes Sime truly appealing for dynasty managers is his mental framework; he has shown extreme professional maturity, noting that he is prioritizing zone consistency and mechanical efficiency over just chasing radar gun numbers. The strikeout upside is massive.
