A power ranking of the Top 10 fastest risers

1. Tekoah Roby, RHP, Cardinals — MLB, Age 24
Roby (pictured above) missed the entire 2026 regular season after Tommy John surgery last July, then made a triumphant return in the Arizona Fall League with three hitless, scoreless innings and six strikeouts in his first game in 456 days. His fastball has averaged roughly 95 to 96 mph in the desert and his curveball has been one of the most dominant pitches in the league. He’s on the Cardinals’ 40-man roster and in line to push for a 2027 debut.

2. Dax Kilby, SS, Yankees — Single-A, Age 19
The 39th overall pick in 2025 lost most of 2026 to a hamstring strain and didn’t play until late July, but he has been one of the best stories in the Fall League. Kilby hit .261 with four homers and 12 steals in 32 Single-A games, and he’s homered and hit safely in each of his first four games in Arizona after some swing tweaks.

3. Aidan Miller, 3B, Phillies — AA, Age 22
Miller’s season was lost to a back injury and a June procedure, but he made his return on September 5 with a 109.1 mph double and finished the year at Double-A. He’s now back at the Fall League and looks like the same polished hitter who ranked as a consensus top prospect entering 2026.

4. Carlos Sanchez, SS, Reds — AA, Age 21
Sanchez, a $70,000 Dominican signee who wasn’t on the Reds’ top prospect list entering the year, is now No. 14 in the organization after a breakout. He hit .308/.404/.502 with 31 extra-base hits and 16 steals in 71 games at High-A Dayton before a June promotion to Double-A Chattanooga. He struggled at Double-A (.214 in 58 games) but has rebounded in the Fall League, including a three-hit, two-homer, four-RBI game that pushed his average above .300.

5. Kyle DeBarge, SS, Twins — AA, Age 22
DeBarge, the 33rd overall pick in 2024, had a rough year at Double-A Wichita, hitting .221 with 12 homers and 49 RBI. He has more than made up for it in the Arizona Fall League, where he has been one of the Twins’ best hitters, including a standout third week. Known for his speed and defense, he could reach Triple-A St. Paul in 2027.

6. Tai Peete, SS, Cardinals — AA, Age 20
Peete battled injuries, including a concussion, for much of the year after arriving from Seattle in the Brendan Donovan trade. When healthy, he hit a career-best .296/.359/.549 on his way to Double-A and capped the year with a 5-for-5 game in the Texas League Finals, including a homer, four RBI and a steal. He earned an Arizona Fall League assignment as a result.

7. Welbyn Francisca, SS, Guardians — AA, Age 20
The Guardians’ $1.375 million international signee from 2023 missed the start of the season with a shoulder issue, but once he returned he showed a surprising power breakout. He hit 13 home runs in his first 44 High-A games, eight of them in a 14-game stretch, before finishing the year at Double-A. The bat is ahead of the glove right now, but the power is real for the switch-hitting shortstop.

8. Carlos Virahonda, C, Diamondbacks — AA, Age 20
The Diamondbacks’ Minor League Player of the Year, the 5-foot-9 Venezuelan backstop hit .272/.377/.493 with 19 homers and a system-best 94 RBI across Single-A, High-A and Double-A, the first time a catcher has led the organization in RBI in at least three decades. He hit .364 with a 1.058 OPS with runners in scoring position, caught a shutout and homered twice in the Texas League playoffs as Amarillo won the title, and he’s now the No. 5 prospect in Arizona’s system.

9. Patrick Reilly, RHP, Orioles — AA, Age 24
Reilly missed all of 2025 after Tommy John surgery in May and didn’t return until late June, but he finished the year as part of Double-A Chesapeake’s loaded rotation, which also featured Anthony Eyanson, Joseph Dzierwa and Caden Hunter. The Vanderbilt product and former Pirates fifth-round pick is now in the Arizona Fall League, where he struck out six over three innings on his 25th birthday and drew whiffs on seven of 12 swings against his slider.

10. Caleb Bonemer, 3B/OF, White Sox — AA, Age 20
Bonemer led all minor leaguers with 69 extra-base hits and ranked fifth with 37 home runs, producing a .930 OPS across High-A Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham in his age-20 season. The White Sox started getting him reps in center field late in the year and he’s continued that work in the Fall League, where he hit .286/.364/.633 with three homers before wrapping up. A 2027 MLB debut is in play.
