As we roll out our latest update to the RotoProspects Top 700 Prospect fantasy baseball rankings, let’s dive into the key updates surrounding the top-ranked prospects this week.

Rangers’ Sebastian Walcott takes over the No. 1 spot in the Top 700

Walcott (pictured above) is our new top prospect after a second half that erased any lingering worry about his elbow. An internal-brace UCL procedure this spring cost him most of the first half, but since returning in mid-July he has hit .322 with nine home runs and 11 stolen bases in 37 games at Double-A Frisco, and he closed the season with a promotion to Triple-A Round Rock. With a 50 hit, 70 power, 55 speed profile and a 65 future value, he’s the rare shortstop with true plus-plus thump, and he’ll be in the conversation for an early 2027 look if spring training goes well. Behind him, Theo Gillen moves up to No. 2 after a South Atlantic League MVP season at High-A Bowling Green and a .288 showing at Double-A, while Jesus Made slides to No. 3.

Padres’ Elliot Lascelles rockets into the Top 200 after a standout pro debut

Lascelles (No. 192, up from No. 403) is the week’s biggest mover. The top Canadian bat in this year’s draft, he went in the second round (No. 60 overall) and signed for about $2.8 million, the largest bonus of any Canadian pick, convincing him to pass on a Yale commitment. The 18-year-old lefty-hitting infielder has been excellent since reaching Single-A Lake Elsinore in August, hitting around .320 with elite in-zone contact (roughly 94 percent), a perfect start on the bases, and time at both shortstop and second base. The questions are about how much power his unorthodox setup will produce and whether he sticks at shortstop, but the hit tool and feel for the game are real.

Cubs’ Kane Kepley soars up near the Top 100 as the minors’ running-game king

Kepley (No. 108, up from No. 196) finished atop the minor league leaderboards in stolen bases (70), walks (120) and runs scored (127) across High-A South Bend and Double-A Knoxville. A former Liberty walk-on and 2025 second-rounder who signed for an under-slot $1.4 million, the 22-year-old lefty-hitting outfielder pairs 60-grade speed with elite plate discipline and a strikeout rate around 15 percent. The caution flag: he cooled off late at Double-A, hitting just .160 over his final 21 games, though he still drew 15 walks and swiped 15 bags in that stretch. The power is the swing skill to watch, but as a table-setter in a speed-friendly roto build, he’s already a fantasy asset.

Notable faller: Diamondbacks’ Junior Sanchez slides to No. 247

Sanchez (No. 247, down from No. 186) is the week’s steepest drop and has now fallen in back-to-back updates, from No. 165 to No. 247. There’s no injury or transaction we can point to behind the slide. The undersized 20-year-old righty, a $50,000 Dominican signee, has been uneven at Double-A Amarillo: he put up a sub-2.00 ERA in his first six road starts there, but his overall results have been rougher. Dynasty owners should watch for a strong finish in the Fall or winter ball before treating this as more than a correction.
