A quick look at the Top Three
1. Zac Veen | OF | Colorado Rockies (Triple-A)
Veen (pictured above) took complete control of Triple-A pitching over the past week. The 24-year-old outfielder blasted 4 home runs and drove in 10 runs while adding two steals and hitting nearly .500 across 23 at-bats. While Veen produced all week long, his weekly stat line was headlined by one of the single greatest minor league games of the entire year. On Saturday, Veen put on a cheat-code performance, going a perfect 5-for-5 with 3 home runs, a double, a triple, and 7 RBIs. After battling injuries and swing tweaks over the past couple of seasons, Veen is playing with peak confidence. He is closing in on a potential 30 HR / 100 RBI season at Triple-A. He looks primed to make an impact at the major league level very soon.
2. Eliazar Dishmey | SP | Miami Marlins (Double-A)
Dishmey delivered the single most dominant pitching performance of the week. The 21-year-old right-hander tossed 6.0 completely hitless innings in Double-A, striking out 10 batters while surrendering just a single walk for an microscopic 0.17 WHIP. Outings like this cement Dishmey as one of the most exciting young arms rising through the Marlins’ system.
3. Boston Smith | C | Seattle Mariners (Double-A)
Nobody hit the ball out of the park more times this week than Smith. The Mariners backstop put on a light-tower power display, mashing 5 home runs in just 21 at-bats at Double-A. Adding 3 walks to his monster power display yielded a 1.553 OPS, establishing Smith as a premier power option behind the plate.
