As we roll out our latest update to the RotoProspects Top 700 Prospect fantasy baseball rankings, let’s dive into the key updates surrounding the top-ranked prospects this week.

Joshua Baez of Cardinals is slugging his way up near the Top 10

Any minor developmental adjustments Baez was working through were completely vaporized on Tuesday night against Nashville. In one of the most emotional and spectacular performances in minor league history—taking place on the third anniversary of his father’s passing—Baez went absolutely nuclear, slugging four home runs in a single game. He launched a 3-run shot in the first, a 2-run blast in the third, and solo shots in the fifth and eighth, totaling 1,510 combined feet of pure destruction.

He is the first player in Memphis Redbirds history to hit four homers in a game and has vaulted his season total to 24 home runs in just 65 games, slashing .276/.347/.625 with 40 extra-base hits. While the swing-and-miss zone contact metrics still require monitoring, you don’t stall a 70-grade power asset on a 60-homer pace. He surges to No. 12 overall, and a major league debut in St. Louis could happen before the month is over.

Rays’ Theo Gillen soars into the Top 25 with his recent hot stretch

Gillen has been a pure catalyst for High-A Bowling Green over the last two weeks. The 20-year-old lefty bat has quieted his front side, minimizing pre-swing hand drift to sync flawlessly with professional breaking balls. He’s hitting .390/.520/.542 in June with 14 runs scored and seven stolen bases. His combination of a 60-grade hit tool and sudden power optimization makes him a premium, rapidly climbing dynasty asset.

Cubs’ Josiah Hartshorn is turning heads, nearing Top 50 overall

The 19-year-old switch-hitter has done nothing but smash baseballs all season. After lighting up Single-A to the tune of a .981 OPS, the Cubs rewarded him with an aggressive promotion to High-A. He carried the hot bat right along with him, producing an even higher 1.152 OPS in his first 22 games at the level. His 55-grade power projection from both sides of the plate makes him an incredibly exciting outfield riser.
