As we roll out our latest update to the RotoProspects Top 700 Prospect fantasy baseball rankings, let’s dive into the key updates surrounding the top-ranked prospects this week.

Leo De Vries jumps up to No. 3 after blockbuster trade to Athletics

Oakland’s newly acquired high-A shortstop rises to No. 3 overall in the Top 700 Fantasy Baseball Rankings and has just become the centerpiece of one of this summer’s most dramatic trade deadline deals. The San Diego Padres acquired elite closer Mason Miller and left-hander JP Sears from Oakland in exchange for De Vries and three additional top prospects in San Diego’s system: Braden Nett, Henry Báez, and Eduarniel Núñez. De Vries is one of the highest-ranked prospects ever traded.

De Vries (pictured above) wasted no time joining his new organization—he drove to Lansing the same day of the trade and was in the lineup that evening, getting a hit and flashing defensive poise at shortstop. Scouts are bullish, drawing comparisons to Francisco Lindor and Ketel Marte for his blend of switch‑hit pop, smooth hands, and high baseball IQ.

Edward Florentino mashes his way into the Top 50

Florentino continues to impress with mature at-bats and advanced zone control at just 18 years old. He has four home runs and three stolen bases in his past six games and is now slashing .312/.422/.610 this season with 14 home runs and 25 stolen bases. His profile leans corner-outfield long-term, but his timing and hands at the plate have scouts buzzing. He’s climbed to No. 50, and there’s likely more to come if the power keeps ticking up.

Alex Freeland makes it to The Show and inside the Top 50

Freeland lands in the Top 50 (No. 48 actually) in the Top 700 Fantasy Baseball Rankings after forcing his way onto the Dodgers’ MLB roster. A switch-hitting infielder with 55-grade tools across the board, Freeland has handled multiple positions while showing a strong OBP-driven profile in the upper minors. His high floor and steady glove give him a real chance to stick in LA’s infield, especially with injuries and underperformance around him.
