As we roll out our latest update to the RotoProspects Top 700 Prospect fantasy baseball rankings, let’s dive into the key updates surrounding the top-ranked prospects this week.
The Top 10 Update
No. 1 Roman Anthony (OF, BOS)
Anthony retains the No. 1 spot, showcasing consistent offensive prowess at Triple-A. He’s currently riding a six-game hitting streak and the Red Sox are reportedly considering moving on from a $50 million outfielder (Ceddanne Rafaela) to make room for him.
No. 2 Leo De Vries (SS, SD)
De Vries (pictured above) leapfrogged Sebastian Walcott and the graduating Kristian Campbell to slide into the No. 2 spot. He has an .839 OPS with 13 extra-base hits in High-A, demonstrating advanced hitting skills and plate discipline as an 18-year-old. His performance suggests a rapid ascent through the Padres’ system.
No. 3 Jesús Made (SS, MIL)
Also just 18, Made is turning heads in Single-A with his offensive output showcasing a .307/.407/.456 triple-slash line with ten extra-base hits and 14 stolen bases in 29 games. He recently had a five-RBI game on May 10, going 2-for-4 and adding two stolen bases, highlighting his potential as a future star.
No. 4 Sebastian Walcott (SS, TEX)
The 19-year-old Bahamian phenom is making waves in Double-A Frisco with 12 extra-base hits and eight stolen bases. His combination of power and speed, along with his youth, positions him as a future star.
No. 5 Walker Jenkins (OF, MIN)
Jenkins continues to be hampered by a nagging ankle injury and is expected to be out through at least the rest of May. His blend of contact hitting and power keeps him firmly in the top five, however.
No. 6 Luke Keaschall (2B, MIN)
Keaschall made his MLB debut in April and has since surpassed Emmanuel Rodriguez as the Twins’ No. 2 prospect, reflecting his rapid development.
No. 7 Jordan Lawlar (SS, ARI)
Lawlar has been called up to the Diamondbacks, bringing versatility to the infield. While his playing time is yet to be determined, his promotion indicates the team’s confidence in his abilities.
No. 8 Nick Kurtz (1B, OAK)
Kurtz made his MLB debut recently and is part of the Athletics’ emerging young core, contributing to the team’s surprising competitiveness this season. He blasted his first career home run on May 13th against the Dodgers.
No. 9 Matt Shaw (2B/3B, CHC)
Shaw has been on a tear in Triple-A, hitting two home runs on May 15th, and is showcasing his readiness for a return to the majors with a .928 OPS since his demotion.
No. 10 Samuel Basallo (C/1B, BAL)
Basallo is heating up at Triple-A Norfolk, recently hitting two home runs in a game on May 13th and another one on May 15th. He’s back to catching duties after an injury, which will further enhance his value.
Kristian Campbell graduates from the Top 700
Previously ranked No. 2, he graduated from prospect status this past week. In his first month, he earned the American League Rookie of the Month award for April, hitting .301 with four home runs and 12 RBIs, and reaching base in his first 17 games—a feat surpassed only by Ted Williams in Red Sox history. On April 2, he signed an eight-year, $60 million extension with Boston, securing his place as a cornerstone of the franchise.
