The catcher position is often one of the trickiest to navigate in fantasy baseball, but landing the right backstop can give your team a major advantage. Here at RotoProspects, we provide 2025 fantasy baseball position-by-position rankings and projections, broken into tiers. Here’s a quick look at the first two tiers. You can check out the entire list of the top 62 catchers, broken into eight different tiers, by clicking here (subscription required).

Tier 1: The Elite Option

1. William Contreras, Brewers

At just 27 years old, Contreras (pictured above) is entering his prime and offers the perfect blend of power, batting average, and counting stats. With a projected .277 AVG, 24 HR, 84 R, 84 RBI, and 7 SB, he stands out as the top catcher in fantasy baseball for 2025. His strong 10.8% BB rate and .824 OPS make him a reliable force in both points and category leagues.

Tier 2: Strong Starters

2. Yainer Diaz, Astros

Diaz brings elite contact skills with a projected .281 AVG, 22 HR, and 77 RBI, making him a solid fantasy asset. However, his 4.4% BB rate and lower OBP could limit his ceiling in certain formats.

3. Salvador Perez, Royals

The veteran slugger remains a powerful presence, projected for 25 HR and 86 RBI. While his .259 AVG and 5.3% BB rate aren’t elite, his consistent power makes him a valuable fantasy catcher.

4. Cal Raleigh, Mariners

Raleigh’s 31 projected home runs make him one of the top power options at the position. However, his .236 AVG and high 27.5% K rate could pose a risk in batting average leagues.

5. Willson Contreras, Carrdinals

With a strong projection of a .249 AVG, 23 HR, and 6 SB, Contreras offers solid all-around production. His 10.4% BB rate and .785 OPS make him a great mid-tier option in fantasy.

6. Adley Rutschman, Orioles

One of the best young catchers in baseball, Rutschman provides an elite projected OBP (.348) and solid all-around numbers. With 20 HR, 81 R, and 71 RBI, he’s a strong choice for those looking for stability behind the plate.
