As we roll out our latest update to the RotoProspects Top 700 Prospect fantasy baseball rankings, let’s dive into the key updates surrounding the top-ranked prospects this week.
Rays’ Brody Hopkins jumps up inside the Top 100 after a strong 2025 season
Hopkins firmly established himself as one of the top pitching breakout stories of 2025, earning a bump into the Top 100 and — in our board — climbing up to No. 87. In 25 starts across the minor-league season, Hopkins put up a 2.72 ERA over 116.0 innings, with 141 strikeouts and a 1.25 WHIP.
With a pitch mix featuring a mid-to-upper-90s fastball and a slider that flashes plus, scouts consider him one of the most polished, high-upside arms in the Tampa Bay system. His improved strikeout-to-inning ratio, consistent workload, and refined delivery all point toward him being a potential future rotation regular.
Jhostynxon Garcia‘s ranking falls after trade to the Pirates, but still a name to watch
Garcia dropped in our board following a major offseason trade. As part of a five-player deal, the Boston Red Sox sent Garcia to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for MLB-ready pitcher Johan Oviedo.
The move shakes up his standing for 2026: while previously ranked higher heading into the offseason, we’ve moved Garcia downward to reflect the organizational shift and uncertainty about his playing time and role in a new system. That said, he carries appeal as a former top-100 prospect with tools that could flourish in Pittsburgh’s outfield depth chart.
