As we roll out our latest update to the RotoProspects Top 700 Prospect fantasy baseball rankings, let’s dive into the key updates surrounding the top-ranked prospects this week.

Pirates phenom Konnor Griffin holding at No. 1 overall, and it’s not even close

In the Pirates organization and across all of baseball, Griffin (pictured above) stands as the No. 1 prospect. The ninth overall pick in the 2024 draft delivered a season for the ages, reaching Double-A at just 19 years old and slashing .333/.415/.527 with a .942 OPS. He smashed 21 home runs with 94 RBI and 65 stolen bases. His blend of power, speed, and advanced hitting already draws comparisons rare for a player this age, and his performance has cemented him as one of the most exciting prospects in years within the Pirates’ system and the game as a whole. He could easily make his MLB debut next season.

Marlins’ Robby Snelling nearing the Top 30 after strong finish in Triple-A

Since being acquired by the Marlins in the 2024 deal that sent Tanner Scott to San Diego, Snelling has developed into one of the premier young arms in the minors. The 21-year-old lefty reunited with pitching coach Rob Marcello in Jacksonville this summer and immediately took off, posting a 2.51 ERA with 166 strikeouts across 136 innings between Double-A and Triple-A. Since his July 10 promotion, Snelling has led Triple-A with a 1.27 ERA and 81 strikeouts, showing improved life on his 94–98 mph fastball, a sharper curveball, and a more refined changeup to neutralize righties. A former BA Minor League Pitcher of the Year, Snelling now looks the part of a future front-line starter in Miami’s rotation.

Carter Jensen moves up to No. 35 after impressive Royals debut

Jensen continues to impress for Kansas City. In a recent game, he recorded three doubles—making him just the second Royals rookie ever to post that many doubles within his first dozen big league games. He smacked his first two home runs in a 3-for-4 effort on Sept. 16 against Seattle. Jensen’s mix of contact, patience, and emerging power gives him momentum to settle in at No. 35 this week.

Connelly Early cracks the Top 40 after dazzling Red Sox debut

Early’s leap is real. In his MLB debut for Boston on Sept. 9, he fired five scoreless innings and struck out 11 in a 6-0 win over the A’s, tying a Red Sox debut strikeout record. He arrived in the bigs after going 10–3 with a 2.60 ERA and 132 strikeouts (18 starts) between Double-A and Triple-A. Given his performance (22-3 K-BB, 1.88 ERA in his first 14.1 MLB innings) and pedigree, he moves up to No. 37.

Zach Cole moves into the Top 75 as he holds down a job with the Astros

Cole’s arrival has been memorable. On Sept 13, he homered on the first pitch he saw in his MLB debut and finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs in Houston’s 11–3 rout of Atlanta. In Triple-A, he hit .353/.459/.745 in 15 games before the call-up and was named the Astros’ Minor League Player of the Year. That production plus his overall performance in his first 12 games pushes him up to No. 73.
