We update our fantasy baseball Top 700 Prospect Rankings weekly, and we keep track of the prospects who are rising the quickest to let fantasy baseball owners know about some prospects who are gaining momentum before you even hear about them elsewhere. This list comes out in tandem with the updated Top 700 fantasy baseball prospects list.
1. Edward Florentino, 1B/OF, Pirates — Up 49.5% in the rankings
The 18‑year‑old continues tearing through Single‑A Bradenton. Over the past week, Florentino extended his home run streak to four in six games, launching a mammoth homer in the latest contest. Since his June 21 promotion, he’s slashing .282/.404/.582 with nine doubles and eight home runs, plus elite contact metrics and above-average speed in nearly every game. His surge is powered by a rare combination of power, plate discipline, and base‑stealing prowess—truly a 2028 ETA phenom.
2. Tyler Locklear, 1B, Diamondbacks — Up 37.4% in the rankings
Locklear has officially hit The Show. The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired him from Seattle in the Eugenio Suárez trade, then added him to the active roster. The team confirmed he’s likely to take over first base immediately. His recent Triple‑A production is elite: in July he posted a .422 average over 83 at-bats, with nine home runs, 34 RBIs and six stolen bases. With the power-speed combo and now a clear MLB role, his rise is well-earned.
3. Kaelen Culpepper, SS, Twins — Up 31.4% in the rankings
Culpepper delivered yet another big performance at Double‑A Wichita this week, recording his fourth four-hit game of the season, and his second at this level, underscoring his consistency at the plate. Earlier in July, he earned selection to the 2025 MLB Futures Game—as the Twins’ only representative—a signal of his rapid rise within the organization. With above-average speed, Culpepper is flashing the kind of all‑around game that projects to an MLB promotion in 2026.
