As we roll out our latest update to the RotoProspects Top 700 Prospect fantasy baseball rankings, let’s dive into the key updates surrounding the top-ranked prospects this week.

Cubs’ Owen Caissie soars to No. 21 after blistering stretch at Triple-A

In the first five games of July in Triple-A, Caissie blasted 4 HR, drove in 6, and scored 10 runs, slashing 10-for-21 for a .476 AVG and a power-packed start to the month. He’s now up to 19 HR on the season and was recently named International League Player of the Week. MLB also selected him to play in the 2025 Futures Game on July 12. His 1.579 OPS in July cements him as a top Cub trade asset if the Cubs continue to not have room for him.

Rays’ Carson Williams knocking on the door and jumps into the Top 30

Over the past few weeks, Williams started to break out in a big way (1.111 OPS in the month of July). From June 18 to July 4, he torched opposing pitchers with a .326/.463/.767 slash line, racking up five home runs, two doubles, and a triple during that stretch. Three of those home runs came in a four-game span entering July 6, signaling that his timing and power are finally syncing up. With 15 home runs on the year, Williams is tapping into the big raw power that made him a top prospect. His elite exit velocities and defensive versatility remain assets, and with the Rays locked in a tight AL East race, there’s growing buzz that he could get a look in Tampa sooner than later.

Astros’ Brice Matthews skipping the Futures Game as he gets the call

Matthews (pictured above) is heading to the big leagues after being scratched from the Futures Game roster, earning a call-up to Houston as injuries to Jeremy Peña and Jake Meyers open a roster spot. The 23-year-old has been one of the Astros’ most exciting prospects, slashing .283/.400/.476 with 10 homers and 25 steals at Triple-A Sugar Land. A former shortstop turned second baseman—who’s even seen time in center field—Matthews offers athleticism, power and versatility. He’s posted two sub-4.00 home-to-first times this year and put 25 balls in play at 105+ mph, showcasing his rare speed-power combo. With Houston comfortably atop the AL West, Matthews won’t be asked to carry the load but will have every chance to impact games with his tools and versatility.
