The Top 10 standouts from Week 2
1. Nick Kurtz (1B, AAA – Athletics)
🔥Stat line: 1.287 OPS, 3 HR, 9 RBIs
Kurtz is locked in, launching 3 bombs and driving in 9 with a monster OPS. The bat is loud and the ETA is getting closer—watch for a midseason call-up.
2. Brandon Young (SP/RP, AAA – Orioles)
🔥Stat line: 5.1 IP, 0 H, 0.00 ERA, 8 K
Absolutely electric. Young (pictured above) was untouchable last week, striking out 8 over 5.1 no-hit innings. A legit bullpen weapon in the making.
3. Derlin Figueroa (OF, Low-A – Royals)
🔥Stat line: 1.600 OPS, 2 HR, 7 RBIs
Figueroa is mashing in Low-A with power and patience. Still a few years out, but this 21-year-old is making serious noise.
4. Chase Meidroth (SS, AAA – White Sox)
🔥Stat line: 1.452 OPS, 2 HR, 1 SB
A breakout week from the middle infielder. Meidroth showed pop and speed—don’t be surprised if he’s in Chicago this summer.
5. Travis Bazzana (2B, AA – Guardians)
🔥Stat line: 1.446 OPS, 2 SB, 7-for-13
Pure hitter. Bazzana is proving why he’s one of the best hit tools in the minors, adding speed to a strong all-around week.
6. Lazaro Montes (OF, High-A – Mariners)
🔥Stat line: 1.835 OPS, 5 BB, 3-for-7
Don’t let the small sample size fool you—Montes was locked in. The 20-year-old flashed his elite plate discipline with 5 walks and a big-time OPS.
7. Rafael Flores (C/1B, AA – Yankees)
🔥Stat line: 1.231 OPS, 2 HR, 5 RBIs
Power from behind the plate? Yes please. Flores launched 2 homers and drove in 5, continuing a strong campaign in Double-A.
8. Ian Seymour (SP/RP, AAA – Rays)
🔥Stat line: 5 IP, 10 K, 1.80 ERA
Seymour was dealing last week—10 Ks with no walks. Don’t be surprised if Tampa calls on him early this season.
9. J.T. Ginn (SP, AAA – Athletics)
🔥Stat line: 6 IP, 11 K, 0.83 WHIP
A strong outing for Ginn with 11 strikeouts and great control. He’s knocking on the door for a rotation spot in Oakland.
10. Luinder Avila (SP/RP, AAA – Royals)
🔥Stat line: 11.2 IP, 16 K, 2.31 ERA
Avila was a workhorse this week. Over 11.2 innings, he piled up 16 strikeouts with an impressive WHIP under 0.90.
